Indonesia, with its diversity of ethnicities, traditions, religions, and languages, possesses abundant cultural potential but also serves as a source of potential conflicts. In this context, moderate Islam emerges as a solution to avoid extremism. This research explores the leadership legacy of Prophet Muhammad as an inspiration in formulating a strategy for religious moderation amid the complexity of Indonesian society. The research methodology employs a literature review to delve into the understanding of religious moderation in Islam. The study highlights that Prophet Muhammad, as an extraordinary leader, demonstrated leadership based on justice, honesty, exemplary behavior, and concern for his community. In handling conflicts, he exhibited patience, openness in dialogue, and used friendly language. Additionally, he comprehended the needs and concerns of the community, gradually taught Islam, and employed gentle communication. Therefore, a strategy for religious moderation can be crafted by referring to the leadership legacy of Prophet Muhammad, aiming at sustaining unity and harmony in Indonesia.
